Footnote Works AI agency

AI agency

An AI agency that ships the whole thing, not a slide deck.

An AI agency designs and builds the systems a business runs on and makes them legible to AI, rather than advising on it from the outside. Footnote Works does three things: builds the site, automates the manual work behind it, and engineers both so answer engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity can read and cite them. The work is delivered by the same senior engineer who scopes it, prices are published before you speak to anyone, and reporting comes from first-party server logs and Search Console rather than an agency dashboard.

Three pillars, one operator

Most agencies do one of these and outsource the rest, which is why the seams show. We do all three because they are the same problem seen from different angles: a business that is hard for a machine to read is usually also a business doing too much by hand.

  • Build. Server-rendered sites that load fast and say what they mean in the HTML, not after a JavaScript bundle finishes.
  • Automate. The invoicing, intake, onboarding and reporting your team currently retypes between systems.
  • Get found. Structured data, crawler access and answer-first content, verified against what your server actually serves an AI crawler.

What makes this different from an agency retainer

We do not sell hours and we do not guarantee rankings, because nobody controls them. We sell a fixed-scope engineering change with a measurable input, and we show you the measurement before and after.

Starting costs nothing: a free scan of your site and a twenty-minute call that names the three things worth doing and the ones that are not. If you want the whole picture written down first, The Roadmap is $750 and comes off your first invoice if you go ahead within 90 days, so it is a deposit rather than a purchase. You own it outright either way and can execute it with us, with your own team, or with somebody else. A roadmap you cannot take away is a hostage, not a deliverable.

Check us before you talk to us

We have no client case studies yet and we are not going to imply otherwise. What we can give you instead is three things you can verify in about five minutes without contacting anyone: run our free scan on your own site and then on ours and compare the scores, read the price of everything we sell before you speak to a human, and open ebikeoracle.com on your phone, which is our own site, built and hosted here for about $6 a month, so you can judge the build standard rather than a screenshot of it.

An agency that will not be measured by its own standard is telling you something. So is one that will not name a price until you have sat through a presentation.

What it is worth, and who measured it

+8.4%

A 0.1 second improvement in load speed lifted retail conversion by 8.4% and average order value by 9.2%. Same traffic, same spend, more revenue.

Deloitte and 55, commissioned by Google, “Milliseconds Make Millions”, 2020. 37 European and American brand sites, over 30 million user sessions, measured across four load metrics.

These are findings from published research on the wider market, measured by the people named beside each one. They are not results we are promising you, and we do not have client results of our own to show yet, which we would rather say plainly than dress up.

Questions

What does an AI agency actually do?

It builds and wires up the systems a business runs on, with AI as part of the engineering rather than the pitch. In practice that means three things: the website and its structured data, the automations that remove manual work, and the machine-readability that decides whether an answer engine can quote you.

How is this different from a digital marketing agency?

A marketing agency buys attention. We change the product so attention is easier to earn and cheaper to keep. Most of what we do is engineering: server-rendered pages, structured data, crawler access, and workflow automation. If your problem is genuinely a media-buying problem, we will say so.

Who does the work?

One senior full-stack engineer, the founder, with AI build systems for leverage. The person who sells the engagement writes the code. Nothing is handed to a junior team or a white-labeled tool subscription.

What does it cost?

Every price is published, which almost no agency does. Websites start at $3,000 to $18,000, an AI receptionist at $2,500 to $14,000, an AI assistant at $2,000 to $11,000, a workflow automation at $2,400 to $13,000, and monthly care plans at $290/mo. Starting costs nothing: the scan is instant and the opportunity call is twenty minutes.
