About
The firm you call when the technology is costing you money.
Footnote Works is an AI agency at the smallest honest size: a senior full-stack engineer and operator, amplified by AI build systems, based in Chiang Mai, Thailand and working with clients in the US, UK and Europe. We say "we" because the output is a team's output; we also think you deserve to know exactly who does the work. Here, the person who sells the engagement is the person who writes the code. Nothing is outsourced and nothing is a white-labeled tool subscription.
The studio exists because of a gap we kept seeing in professional firms. A designer built the site, an SEO contractor was hired to fix it, an IT person keeps the laptops going, someone set up the CRM three years ago and left, and every real problem falls in the space between them. So we do all of it: the system the firm runs on, the automation of the work around it, and the visibility on top. Nobody gets to say the problem belongs to someone else.
Our standard of proof is the other reason. This industry runs on dashboards and vibes; we run on first-party evidence, server logs, analytics exports, Search Console data, for our own work and for yours. If we can't measure it, we won't claim it, and that cuts both ways: we have no client case studies yet and this page is not going to imply otherwise. What we can offer instead is a free scan you can run on your own site and on ours, and a published price for everything we sell. Both are checkable in a minute, which is more than a logo wall gives you.
Background, briefly: a decade of production full-stack work (TypeScript, AdonisJS, Laravel, React), real marketplace and e-commerce builds, and, most relevant, a live site taken from an empty domain to page-one rankings and daily readership by AI assistants in 73 days, solo, then hosted and run since. That build is the playbook. Written up by John Weeks, who does the work.

Why "Footnote Works"
When an AI assistant answers a question, it quietly points at its sources: the modern footnote. Our whole job is making your business the thing being pointed at. And the works part is literal: like an ironworks, we build the complete machine. The site, the structured data, the content system, the hosting, end to end, in-house. It's also a promise you'll see kept across this site: every claim we make carries its citation.
Our standards
The promises behind the footnote.
The evidence-ledger standard is not a slogan. It is how we decide what goes on this site and in your reports.
Every claim is cited
Client reporting comes from first-party sources: server logs, analytics, Search Console. Market figures come from named studies with the sample size stated and the source linked. The two are labelled separately and never blur, because a borrowed stat presented as our own result is the one lie a prospect can catch by clicking.
We disclose how we work
We use AI build systems and we say so. We tell you what we measured, what we did not, and where the uncertainty is. Transparency is the product, not a footnote.
We qualify honestly
If the method does not fit your niche, we say so before invoicing and point you somewhere better. A clean “no” is worth more than a bad engagement.
We correct the record
If something we publish or report turns out to be wrong, we fix it and note the change. An evidence standard only means something if it survives being wrong.
How we work
- →Fixed scope, fixed price, fast delivery, no discovery-phase theater.
- →Weekly written updates with data, not decks.
- →We qualify honestly: if the method doesn't fit your niche, we say so before invoicing, and point you somewhere better.
Questions people ask before hiring us
- Who actually does the work?
- One senior full-stack engineer: the founder, with AI build systems for leverage. The person who sells the engagement is the person who writes the code. Nothing is outsourced to a junior team or a white-labeled tool subscription, so the standard is consistent from the first call to the last deploy.
- How do I know your results are real?
- The honest answer is that we do not have client results to show yet, and we would rather say so than borrow someone else’s. The market figures we quote are named published studies with their sample sizes stated and their sources linked, and they are labelled as research rather than as our results. What you can check today: run our free scan on your own site and then on ours, and read the price of everything we sell before you speak to anyone. On client work we report from first-party data, server logs, analytics exports and Search Console, never an agency dashboard. If we cannot measure it, we do not claim it.
- Do you use AI to build the sites?
- Yes, and we are open about it. AI build systems let one engineer ship in weeks what a traditional agency takes a quarter to do. But a human engineer owns every architectural and content decision, and every claim on a client site is checked against real data. Speed comes from tooling; accountability stays with a person.
- How is this different from an SEO agency, or a web designer, or an IT person?
- It is all three jobs, done by the same person, which is the point. Most firms are juggling a designer who cannot engineer, an SEO contractor who cannot touch the code, and whoever set up the CRM three years ago, and every problem lands in the gap between them. We build the system, automate the work around it and handle the visibility, so nobody gets to say the problem belongs to someone else.
- Is a one-person studio really a safe place to put our systems?
- It is a fair question and the honest answer has limits in it. What you get is that the person who sold it wrote it, so nothing is lost in translation and the standard is consistent. What you do not get is a 24-hour helpdesk. Our response windows are published on the pricing page and they are deliberately under-promised, you own your code and your accounts outright, and if your firm genuinely needs someone on call at three in the morning we will tell you that on the first call.
- Where are you based, and who do you work with?
- Footnote Works is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand and works remotely with clients across the US, UK and Europe. The work, structured data, server-rendered sites, crawler access, content systems, is delivered and measured entirely online, so location is not a constraint.
- How do we start, and how do you price?
- Starting costs nothing: an instant scan and a free twenty-minute call where we put a number against each thing worth fixing. After that, five products with published prices in three sizes each, and a monthly care plan if you want the whole system to be our problem. We do not ask anyone to buy a diagnostic before they have seen us do anything.
